Abstract/Summary:
The international financial crisis broke out,the shipping market continues to weaken.Shipping companies are starting to face greater pressure and challenges for dealing with the pressure of market which the prices continue to fall and operating costs continue to higher.Meanwhile,the premise of shipping companies to seek the maximum economic benefit is meeting IMO standard-MARPOL international convention which becomes more and higher to the requirement of ship energy conservation and emissions reduction in order to reduce pollution,protect the environment.All shipping companies try their best to reduce operating costs in order to get rid of the plight of shipping.One of efficiency strategy is using heavy fuel oil which has characteristic of low price,high asphaltene content,high viscosity,high macromolec-ular components and was smelt by improving refining technology.Practice and theory have proved that the way ship carring out slow steaming and burning high viscosity fuel is a very efficiency strategy for energy conservation and emissions reduction.But,the efficiency strategy has the negative impact which couldn’t be allowed to ignore,such as increasing the operating cost,affecting the service life of engine so much as the navigation safety.At present,there are few of shipping companies carrying out the efficiency strategy of ship slow steaming and burnt high viscosity fuel.The research object of this paper is ten thousands TEU container ships which tried to carried out ship slow steaming and burning high viscosity fuel.This paper obtains effective solution for the efficiency strategy of energy conservation and emissions reduction by analyzing the operating efficiency and the Security stability of ship in the process of slow steaming and burning high viscosity fuel.This work was supported by the National Science Foundation of China(51179102)and China Ocean Shipping(Group)Company(COSCO)Research Project(2013-1-R-C001).Paper can be used to direct shipping companies to carry out efficiency strategy of ship slow steaming and burning high viscosity oil,to guide design for new ship building which could saves energy and reduces emission.Meanwhile,this paper can also be applied to the shipping company as operating strategy,technology strategy and management strategy.This paper has the reference value for shipping companies to carry out comprehensive energy conservation and emissions reduction strategy,and has high practicability for shipping companies to extend the strategy of ship slow steaming and burning high viscosity fuel.
