To guarantee the good maintainability of products, human factors of the maintainer need to be fully considered to conduct the design process. The Human-Factor Potential Field(HFPF) is a new concept used to describe the relationship between human and product. It is established drawing from the artificial potential field and able to intuitively depict the distribution of human factor in space, and it can be utilized to improve the quality and efficiency of maintainability design. Aiming at the problem of the degree of maintainer's reaching a target in the process of maintenance, a HFPF on accessibility is constructed and the basic properties are proved. Some simulation analysis and application verification are carried out. The main contents of this paper include:1. The basic theory of HFPF is depicted and analyzed. Based on the analysis of the concept, construction method and basic theoretical system of the artificial potential field, the HFPF concept is put forward to describe the influence on maintainability design of the human factors. The basic framework of HFPF is established and the basic principle of HFPF is analyzed.2. The mathematic model of the HFPF on accessibility is established and the conservation property is detailedly proved. Based on the working space design theory in the human factor engineering, the influence factors and influence mechanism of accessibility are studied, and the HFPF on accessibility model is established. The basic properties of the HFPF on accessibility are analyzed and the conservation property is proved. Taking the human arm as the research object, the HFPF on accessibility of the arm is established and the distribution of potential energy in space is simulated and analyzed. Related experiment is conducted to validate the veracity of the model.3. The HFPF on accessibility is applied to maintainability-based layout optimization and validates the effect validty of the theory. A maintainability-based layout optimization design model is established based on the HFPF on accessibility and solved by using the multiple mutation genetic algorithm. In the application case of actuating cylinder device, the layout optimization simulation and experimental verification are carried out. The results show the effectiveness of layout optimization design method based on the HFPF on accessibility.
