Rapid Prototyping(RP) technology can directly accept the product’s CAD data and use additive manufacturing method to quickly create products without the need of any tools and moulds,which can significantly shorten the product development cycle, reduce development costs and promote product innovation. As one of key technologies in the advanced manufacturing industry, RP has been widely used in the fields of automobile, electronics, medicine, aviation industry and so on. Three dimensional printing(3DP) technology based on micro-droplet injection is one kind of the rapid prototyping technology, which has obvious advantages in the aspects of the forming speed, operation and maintenance cost and also the types of forming material. Compared with foreign countries, China has a significant gap in the research of 3D printing fundamental technology and the development of 3D printing equipment. In view of the current domestic development situation of 3D printing technology, this paper is devoted to develop a set of economical 3D printing system. The main research work of this article includes:Analyzed the forming mechanism of 3D printing technology based on micro-droplet bonding technology and the characteristics of various existing mature micro injection technologies. This paper used piezoelectric printhead and inkjet printer which was modified as 3D printing injection system. Based on modularization technology, 3D printer was successfully developed.In view of STL(Stereolithography) file format which was widely used in the rapid prototyping field having a series of defects, this paper used VRML(Virtual Reality Modeling Language) file as the interface format of CAD and 3D printing system. Using object-oriented programming technology, 3D printing software system was developed based on VC++2010 platform. The VRML model’s visualization was realized by using the dynamic link technology to encapsulate the OpenGL 3D graphics interface. On the VC++ platform, the slicing algorithm of VRML model was developed and section bitmap files which were used by the 3DP system were generated.The three dimensional printing control system was developed which uses PC and Arduino MCU to form an upper and lower control mode. 3D printing control system was designed based on VC++ platform, and Auto IT script was used to automatically operate the Mengtai typesetting software, which can realize the automation of the 3D printing process.This paper also analyzed the physical and chemical properties of 3D printing spray solution and a series of experiments were carried out on the 3D printing equipment. The effects of forming parameters and forming process on the quality of the molding were studied and the improvement measures were also put forward.
