As an important controllable part, civil aero-engine maintenance cost occupies a large proportion in the direct operation cost of airlines. With the development of global aviation industry and the increasingly fierce industry competition, research on maintenance cost analysis and control of civil aero-engine becomes a necessary and effective way for airlines to distribute capital more reasonably and to make proper maintenance plans, which will help airlines to lower the operation cost and become more competitive in return. Accounting for a very large proportion in the entire engine maintenance cost, shop visit cost is a core issue to be solved in the study of engine maintenance cost control.Research status and achievements on maintenance cost control of civil aero-engine are summarized in this paper. Based on the analysis of constituent parts and the influence factors of aero-engine maintenance cost, prediction models for aero-engine shop visit maintenance cost are established and GUI design of civil aero-engine maintenance cost assistant analysis system is accomplished.Firstly, in view of different types of engine removals, this research is divided into scheduled shop visit analysis and unscheduled shop visit analysis.Secondly, in terms of scheduled shop visit, because of the closely correlation between maintenance cost and engine performance states, scheduled shop visit cost is calculated through prediction model which is derived from engine performance states indexes and the airlines practical operation data using Grey Theory. In terms of unscheduled shop visit that caused by accidental events such as bird strike, engine surge, in-flight shutdown and so on,the maintenance cost is predicted by using engineering estimate method. In this process, a decision-making method for determining the maintenance scale of unscheduled shop visit is established based on rough set theory, which can provide the engineers with decision support.Finally, based on the research mentioned above, design of primary function GUIs of civil aero-engine maintenance cost assistant analysis system is accomplished through Matlab,which can reduce the workload for engineers and provide an effective technical assistance tool to improve the analysis and management level of operation data for airlines.
