The Research Of Urban Public Space Origination And System In The Islamic Middle East Cities

Urban public space is an important type of urban space and an important factor affecting the city's style, it is also the space vector for people's activities in their public life. The development of urban public space showing the characteristics and status as today is influenced by social, economic, political and other factors. Urban public space consists of both physical elements and functional elements. It also can be divided into physical aspects and nonphysical aspects in their structure system. This paper focus on the Islamic cities in Middle East, tries to summarize the current construction of urban public space and existing problems in the Middle East. Then comes to the proposed targeted design strategies and methods, and finally comes with an example as verification.This thesis is divided into five parts:The first part focuses on a comprehensive analysis of the theoretical study in urban public space-related previous learning and achievements, and in particular for the Islamic theory's impact on the generation of urban construction and development in the Middle East cities;The second part seeks for a thoroughly understanding of historical and cultural background and the urban development process of Middle East region. And also tries to understand the impacts of geography elements, cultural elements, political elements and economic elements on urban construction and urban public space development in the Middle East, in order to understand the motivation of its current layout.The third part proceed with physical elements and functional elements of urban public space, carding a variety of elements that constitute urban public space and its in-depth analysis and research, and thus from the macro, meso and micro levels to control the Middle East and a comprehensive city architecture and public space material characteristics, analyzes its components, morphology and associated urban phenomenon, activity characteristics.Section four summarizes the results of these studies, the analysis the shortage of urban public space in the Middle East, the last part of the thesis proposes some appropriate construction methods and strategies. At last, vivificate these strategies through the urban public space planning in Istanbul's historic peninsula.
