Excavator is one of the most important engineering machinery, which widely used in water conservancy, construction, highway, mining, etc. In order to ensure the normal operation and maintenance in time, maintenance personnel must grasp the operation status of the excavator in real time, use field testing technology, to display the real-time operation condition(such as engine speed, throttle position, oil temperature, valve current, etc.).This is great significance to ensure the normal operation of the excavator work.In order to realize the functional requirements of the field testing system, this paper is based on the research and development of a 24 tons large hydraulic excavator, based on the system field test data, used the virtual instrument development platform LabVIEW achieve data processing, display and preservation.The main contents are as follows:First of all, in order to realize real-time monitoring data collection, it was using a serial communication connection between the excavator field test system and controller.. Field test system use RS232 interface to communicate with airborne systems, set up the hardware link; A serial port initialization configuration was developed on the LabVIEW platform, such as buffer setup, data read program; It build communication real-time and overflow protection mechanism to ensure the integrity of their receiving data.Then, the author carried on the design of man-machine interface in field test system. According to the communication protocol and data format definition, it process the received data step by step, display the data in different controls, such as the wave numerical, text, charts, light.It realize the function of change the refresh rate,that could present the excavator working condition in a simple and intuitive way.Finally, the software of the field test system is carried out to record the developing data and storage waveform. The data is recorded in the process of the operation in a certain period time or the whole process. To achieve save the screenshots of the userprogram in a single interface or the entire waveform chart. Later, it through analysis and judge the recorded data of the relevant project, combine with other software to generate test report.In this paper, the research and development of the excavator field test system including data acquisition, data processing, data display and recording. After debugging the various components of the system, it proves that the design of field testing system can be applied to medium-sized excavators efficient operation, and it has some practical value in engineering practice.
