In order to ensure the airworthiness of the helicopter, the current fault diagnosis of helicopter has been putted forward higher requirements. If helicopter fails, it would result in unnecessary economic losses at least, even plane crash occurs, and the impact is enormous. Helicopter fault in the past mainly diagnosed by maintenance personnel with a wealth of experience as well as with the guidance of cards and maintenance manual. their maintenance difficult is hard to imagine. The visualization of fault diagnosis with the support of virtual instrument achieved the good solution to these problems, shortening the training cycle, and improving training efficiency. It fully reflects the superiority in helicopter Diagnosis field.This paper concisely describes the related technologies of virtual instrument,intelligent reasoning machine and fault tree analysis. In the case of analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of each technology, it describes the status of their application in fault diagnosis. According to the characteristics of the main and important system and fault of a helicopter it appears, it gives helicopter fault diagnosis theory based on virtual instrument program. In order to solve helicopter maintenance supporting hard during training with limited resources, higher disassembly difficult,and it is difficult to determine the point of failure and other problems, It proposes application of virtual instrument detection, determines the point of fault diagnosis helicopter visualization, achieves a dynamic simulation model with data processing by the virtual instrument and reasoning machine functions with solving the helicopter maintenance complex troubleshooting problems. It forms a logical reasoning ability of fault diagnosis.By studying the background of helicopter fault diagnosis, the demand made on fault diagnosis method of research and design, using of key technologies and a common framework, it establishes the diagnosis methodology. It also made a virtual instrument management methods. It proposes and designs an interactive performance and excellent helicopter fault diagnosis method with strong scalability.
