Contemporary, the architectural design process involved in numerous des ign elements, leads the architect very difficult to integrate simultaneously various architectural design elements in the architectural design process,which cause the architectural design lack of rational factors.Traditional architectural design method has the problem that architectural design process is independent of the evaluation phase,which leds building process repeatedly,building design accuracy low, the lack of in-depth design optimization,and low efficiency of architectural design. Aiming at these problems, The paper, by introducing the multidisciplinary optimization design ideas(MDO) into the architectural design field, proposed building performance driven design method and built up the process of building performance driven design to solve the design problem.First of all, based on the related research results home and abroad, concept of performance and building performance is studied with the definition, the paper discusses the conception of building performance driven design, analyzes the design solution set and software platform, and sums up the characteristics and advantages of performance driven design method the conclusion summarizes the characteristics and advantages of performance driven design method; Next, this paper, introducing genetic algorithm as a design process of building performance enabling technology, studied and analyzed the principle and characteristics of the algorithm, and comes up with the design process of building performance driven design method using GA. Researching the space of the building performance parameters, energy consumption and cost parameters, the function of these three parameters is established in this paper. Based on genetic algorithm optimization theory and control, evaluation and selection of the parameters above, proposing the design process of building performance driven design method and its flow chart. The paper, combined with the design process of the proposed method, integrates the building shape elements, building energy consumption and construction cost factors to discusse the balance relationship of these design elements using Pareto set theory. In the last chapter of this article,it discusses the important design details of the method and explains its feasibility,using a specifical case to illustrate information handling, design problems translation, automatic performance evaluation and termination conditions optimization, the final design evaluation and other four design phase and design operation of the building performance driven design method.In this paper, the research aims to architectural creation for the architect to provide a new design method and design idea,try to realize the integration of architectural design and evaluation and solve the existing building design solution inaccurate and low efficiency design problems, which can provide basic data for the future building automation design research at the same time.
