This research is based on the parametric design platform;and its research object is the process of building performance optimization.Taking the cases of public buildings in cold region as carriers,this paper analyses the architects' requirements of simulation and optimization in schematic design phase,which can be summarized as a building performance simulation and optimization work flow with general significance.Afterwards,the requirements of building performance simulation and optimization are combined with the application characteristics of parametric design platform.The specific cases are used to explain the role of optimization work flow in solving the problems on different levels and demands.The specific research content consists of two parts.(1)Summarizing the work flow of building performance simulation and optimization with general significance based on parametric design platform.The strategy of building performance simulation and optimization takes "controlled deepening" as work foundation and "feedback optimization" as the main method of the building.The demand segmentation is made for building performance optimization;and the initial variables and objective functions for the related subdivision demands are included.To combine the subdivision demands with the application characteristics of design platform,a visual programming tool named Grasshopper and its performance simulation plug-in named Lagybug&Honeybee&Butterly as well as its optimization plug-in named Galapagos and Octopus are used to realize the correlation of geometric parameters and the building performance simulation software OpenFOAM,EnergyPlus and Daysim.And the optimization with genetic algorithm is carried out based on the simulation.(2)Application of building performance simulation and optimization work flow in the public building cases in cold region.According to three different levels,an education building,a transportation building and an office building in cold region are selected as examples to exhibit the specific application of building performance and simulation work flow.The building performance variables are classified into three groups which are geometric variables,building materials and constructions variables and building operation variables.The input methods of all types of veriables are explaned in detail.According to different design levels,different combinations of building performance evaluation indexes like building wind environment,building thermal environment,building light environment and energy consumption are chosen as the objective functions.With the advantages of parametric platform in data postprocessing,the methods to visualize optimization results are exhibited.The innovation points of this paper include the following aspects.Introducing the OpenFOAM software to parametric design platform to realize outdoor wind environment simulation and optimization for the first time.For the schematic design stage,summarizing the work flow of building performance optimization optimization which take parametric design platform as the core.Solving contradictions between different goals of building performance optimization and considering coordination between the physical performance and other performance with multi-objective optimization algorithm.Improving the convenience of the building performance simulation and the diversity of optimization results to some extent.
