Research On The Construction Of Guanting Reservoir And Subsequent Issues

In order to elimate the frequent floods in Yongding River Basin, the newly established government overcame the difficulties of capital, technology and managerial and finished the Guanting Reservoir in 1956. As the first large reservoir engineering which built by the People?s Government, the comprehensive benefit created by Guanting Reservoir?s provided effective and useful reference for the later water conservancy in terms of flood control and calamity reducing, hydropower and aquaculture. However, with the construction of Guanting Reservoir, the immigration and environmental issues which caused by bureaucratic drawbacks have been exposed. Through the study of the course of construction, solutions of the immigrant issue and the work of environmental governance, the author find out that the role played by the state became more and more dominated. The public and water community had to interact with the state for the purpose of safeguarding or expanding their own interests. Actually, with this kind of interaction, all the parties? interest got attention and protection.
