After the financial crisis, our national civil aviation industry has been fast developing with a large number of local airlines being established and scale of our country’s fleet being massively expanding. Thus, unprecedented opportunities and challenges are inevitably confronted the aviation industry. However, the rapid fleet expansion is bound to pose a higher requirement for not only the safety operation but also the maintenance industry of aviation.Therefore, it is imperative to develop fast and effective assistance software for route troubleshooting.The present paper firstly studied and introduced the framework of the route troubleshooting expert system with the purpose of analyzing the feasibility of applying the expert system to the route troubleshooting and pointing out that the core part of the expert system is the establishment of inference engine and database. According to the characters of route troubleshooting, the paper maintains that the three reasoning mechanism: Case-Based Reasoning, Fault Tree Analysis and Fuzzy Reasoning should be composed together and will be coordinating with each other by certain reasoning strategy; CBR mainly investigated the key techniques, including case representation, case index, case retrieve, case reuse, case revise, etc. and a case retrieve model of combing the KNN(K-nearest neighbor) method with the character field match was adopted; FTA is to provide an access for the future user by indexing and storing the fault tree in the aircraft maintenance manual with specific methods;while in FBR, the credibility of the fuzzy rules are calculated with the weight sum, and the feasibility of the fuzzy rules are determined by the principle of the threshold value; then in the part of establishing the knowledge base, the SQL Server 2000 developed by Microsoft is adopted to design and develop the expert knowledge base. According to the reasoning mechanism, three databases(case base, fault tree base and fuzzy rule base) are also included in the expert knowledge base and data can be conversed among them. In the part of the system realization, the user’s interface is designed based on Visual C++, and the technique of ADO is employed to visit the database.Finally, the pneumatic of B737 NG was taken for an example to test the route troubleshooting expert system, and results show that it works well.
