The "Crystal Palace", built by the London Industrial Exhibition in 1851, was recognized as the earliest primary building curtain wall,creating an unprecedented architectural history with epoch-making significance. From then on, the architectural curtain wall was blended into the building design. But due to the limited technology at that time, it was only applied to a small part of the construction. In the 1950 s, the glass curtain wall began to be widely used in the building envelope structure by the developed countries in Europe. The earliest batch of the glass curtain wall mainly adopted the form of exposed frame supported glass curtain wall. With the breakthrough development of structural silicone sealant technology, the full hidden frame glass curtain wall gained the widespread application gradually. Meanwhile, the improvement of glass production technology and secondary processing technology gave a vigorous boost to the application of the glass curtain wall. Moreover, point-supported curtain wall, hot channel curtain wall,photovoltaic curtain wall, cable-net curtain wall and other new walls were constantly emerging. Nowadays, the curtain wall technology can use a variety of decoration panels in any building, any height, any part, any form of construction. Apart from the glass, the panels also use other materials, like aluminum plate, stainless steel plate, enamel plate, granite slab, and other artificial panels for outside decoration, marking the building curtain wall application development has entered upon a new stage on which the architectural curtain wall has become a symbol of modern architecture.Ningbo, a southeast coastal city, is located in the middle of coastline in mainland China, which is the economic center and the chemical industry base of the south wing ofthe Yangtze River Delta. As a major industrial and commercial city in east China and one of the economic centers in Zhejiang Province, Ningbo, with rich cultural accumulation and a long cultural history, is a typical picturesque Chinese Jiangnan town and a harbor city. Since the opening-up of Ningbo, industry and commerce have been the main representation of Ningbo.With the rapid development of Ningbo's economy, the building curtain wall, with the feature of high-strength and lightweight, has been applied in all fields of buildings construction. The peripheral protecting structures of public buildings, such as large commercial buildings, office buildings, stadiums, cultural facilities, convention centers, and transportation hubs, almost without exception, have been all in building walls as a representation of the times.This essay briefly introduces the main kinds and main materials of the architectural curtain wall and study the system construction, technical measures and structural system, energy saving calculation method, the new technology of beam column connection, energy-saving glass application and the solutions of traditional methods, involving application cases of stick built curtain wall, unitized curtain wall, photoelectric curtain wall, full glass curtain wall, cable-net curtain wall,hyperbolic glass daylighting roof BIM, nearly all kinds of curtain wall.The partof anti-seismic technology of curtain wall in this essay, mainly solves the construction of anti-slippage and anti-falling curtain wall under the earthquake circumstances. This technology applies the idea of combining the drainage and blocking, attaching importance to the latter. Due to its feature of easy construction, convenient installment, high reliability, it's worth to be used for reference for the similar constructions. Using the way of finite elementan alysis to calculate the heattransfer coefficient of curtain wall material can find the cold bridge position easily. Strengthening the thermal insulation structure at the potential cold bridge position according to the analysis results is the most effective way to improve the energy-saving effect of curtain wall.The application of photovoltaic skylight in the construction of Ningbo International financial center creates the unprecedented history of Ningbo architectural applications, exerting a leading impact. The photovoltaic glass wall which adopts photoelectric building integrated components with solar power systems will become the most popular building elevation in the 21 st century, which shows great market prospects.Single-layer cable networkcurtain wall chooses the XIR heat-reflection laminated glass, with the feature of high safety, remarkable energy-saving effect, strong permeability, adapts to the high-standard curtain wall.The construction of non-load bearing glass ribs greatly decreases borehole stress, lowers the thickness requirement of glass ribs and features convenient maintenance, which is the development direction of Long-span full glass curtain wall.The new technology of stick built curtain wall, which has got rid of the disadvantages, like low rigidity, easy to reverse and deformation and low accuracy, existing in traditional horizontal beam, has the advantages of high accuracy and efficiency, high rigidity and low costs. Due to this, it has been widely used in the all kinds of glass curtain wall.Irregular hyperbolic glass dome three-dimension design and the whole construction process, using the technology of three-dimension BIM and parametrization design as well as digital model which is used to adjust the glass size and integral shape, designs a series of adjustable construction, comes up with the idea that flat glass smoothly fits hyperbolic dome, ensures the quality and safety, speeds up the process and lowers the cost. Therefore, it gains great economic and social benefits.The research on the three typical cases of key technology and new technology in the curtain wall construction has great guiding significance on the design and construction of curtain wall.
