Comparisons Of Urban Park Behavior In China And The United States

With the increasing leisure time of the residents, the park space with reasonable functions, beautiful environment is needed to meet the needs of daily activities. Objectively, park activity reflects a kind of positive state and residents often meets their mental and physical needs by participating in various park activities.As a social and cultural content, under the influence of cultural differences, the urban residents in China and the United States also have different behaviors. With the study of nationality as the cultural variables, this study made analysis and comparison of the users of Chinese and American parks, which is conductive to find the difference between the users under different cultural backgrounds, so as to better grasp and understand the significance of park behavior, providing ideal environment for the good interactive exchanges of citizens.By the use of focus group interview method, behavior observation recording method, individual depth interview, this paper selected Chinese and U.S. parks for the investigation and research of park activities. By focusing on the theoretical research methods, it constructed the internal mechanism of Chinese and U.S. urban park social networking activities and found significant collectivism and individualism cultural characteristics between the two. In addition, this study also conducted the Sino-US differences in terms of park activities type, quantity, activity space location, time distribution and other types of park activities, combed the behavior mode and rule of the Chinese and U.S. park activities.
