| The present crunch on land resources has made urban underground space development be of tremendous significance in the progress of urbanization across the whole country and be essential to ease the intensity of scarce urban land. As the urbanization in our country turns into frantic tempo, the urbanization process has brought the great impetus for the economic development, as well as unavoidable problems in the meantime. With the improvement of living requirement, citizens have naturally realized the importance of urban underground space and become eager for better and more enjoyable urban living environment and living space. Moreover, people begin to require more from aspects, like the quality, circumstances, and functions of underground public space. Resulting from the fact that there exists visible deficiencies of urban underground space development, a great many citizens hold adverse physical and psychological reactions, which causes a negative and pessimistic attitude towards the concept of urban underground space development. Under such conditions, previous scholars put forward a theory about human-oriented design on underground space. This paper studies structures of human-oriented design on urban underground business space and relevant elements which affect its development, based on current related developing experience, accumulated technologies, and citizens’ demands. Also, field work is carried out at business districts in Chongqing for the purpose of analyzing and assessing their characteristics towards human-oriented design comprehensively. This paper sums up typical models as references to urban underground business space design and fully investigates their possible improvement and optimization strategy. Finally, a new idea is proposed towards further development of urban underground business space in Chongqing.This paper is organized as follows. Section 1(Chapter 1 and 2) amplifies research background and motivation, sorts out related previous domestic and foreign literature on urban underground space development and human-oriented design, and elaborates the concepts, key points, and research methods. Section 2(Chapter 3) combines features of both underground business space and other types of spaces and proposes possible factors and indicators which may affect the procedure of human-oriented design on urban underground business space. This section also includes the construction of index system and comprehensive assessment models, which further provides basis for the comment of human-oriented design on business districts’ underground business space at Chongqing. Section 3(Chapter 4 and 5) studies cases based on the field work at Shapingba Business District, Guan-yin Bridge Business District, Jiefangbei Business District from a point view of a user or a group, via questionnaires and analytic hierarchy process on the quality of business district space. Further analysis is about the main factors of human-oriented design on urban underground space from professional angle of city planning and draw a conclusion of the problems, typical models and development trends of underground business space at Chongqing. Section 4 concludes kinds of applicable research methods for the improvement of domestic and foreign urban space and puts forward possible solutions to the problems of human-oriented design on underground business space at Chongqing. |
