The Research Of Traditional Ancestral Temple Landscapes In Three Gorges Area

The Three Gorges Area was one of the birthplace of China ancient culture, wich has magnificent natural scenery and rich cultural implication. It's also a remarkable place produces outstanding people. However, the construction of the three gorges water conservancy project makes the water table rising, and the region cultural heritage suffered unprecedented crisis and challenges. In the Three Gorges Area, Large tracts of land which had nurtured a splendid culture were flooded, many residents must leave their hometowns, and many civilizations long buried underwater. During this process, the traditional landscape which was the carrier of regional culture also suffered an immeasurable loss. The traditional landscape culture of the Three Gorges Area should be protected and inherit.The ancestral temple is the place for the old Chinese people to offer to the ancestors. It's an important way of spreading the Chinese traditional culture in the history and has great significance to inherit the regional traditional culture. There are so many ancestral temples built in the Three Gorges Area in the history. They witnessed the changes of the region and condensed the essence of the garden and architecture art at that time. But for various reasons, the protection and research of the ancestral temples in the Three Gorges Area is not optimistic.This paper takes the traditional ancestral temples in the Three Gorges Area as the research object, does systematic arrangement and landscape space research on them. First, through literature research, the paper combed the retention and developing situations of the ancestral temples in the Three Gorges Area, summarize the development environment and development process of the ancestral temples, including the main ancestral temple type and important cases in each time. Second, through the analysis of key cases, the paper research the location, distribution and landscape spatial organization of the ancestral temples in the Three Gorges Area. At last, the paper summarizes the landscape characteristics from multiple aspects of the traditional ancestral temples.By this paper, we hope to make certain contribution to the protection of traditional ancestral temples, the constructionin of contemporary regional landscape and the heritage of traditional culture, especially the heritage of traditional garden and architectural culture in Three Gorges Area.
