Two-wheeled self-balancing electric vehicle has become a new means of transport for urban traffic. Because of its simple to operate, freedom and flexibility, small footprint, etc., it received wide attention. This paper summarizes the research results of related fields at home and abroad. Base on combining with mechanical design theory and using CATIA software, it is designed 3D modeling and carried on the finite element analysis of the key parts. Design innovative self-balancing obstacle-surmounting chassis of the mechanical structure. Use ADAMS to simulate the model. The simulation results verify the rationality of the design and the effectiveness of the hybrid model.The research work has an important reference value to the next step for the future self-balancing obstacle-surmounting vehicle. There are two major initiatives that the mechanical structure's design of the two self-balancing obstacle chassis more than other existing self-balancing vehicle, as the following:(1) In this article, two arms are independently driven by motors, the movement is achieved by the robot's walking method, which foots alternating motion. The two swing arms are free to ensure the stability and the flexibility of the vehicle body.(2) Add to the obstacle-surmounting function. The chassis can cross a certain height of obstacles and greatly enhance the performance of the chassis.
