Public transit, an indispensable part of urban comprehensive transportation system, its progress benefits intensive, green and sustainable development of a city. As an infrastructure of public transit, bus terminals serve to keep bus lines operate functionally and to transfer passengers. Therefore, it is essential from passenegers' perspective to research bus terminals' setting conditions and landuse scale. After examining functions of bus terminals, this study compared previous research, and proposed a macro-level layout method of bus terminals based on transferring passenegrs. This method determines setting conditions of bus terminals based on balance of supply and demand, and comprises seven parametres, such as collocate vehicle, standard bus capacity, proportions of terminal capacity and bus ridership. According to field surveys and statistical yearbooks, this study calculated each parameter through statisicical analysis, and estimated recommend values of setting conditions of bus terminals.Due to different landuse, this study classified bus terminals to terminals of independent land occupation and terminals pertain to public buildings. Minimum area of each infrasturcure was calculated on the basis of satisfying the required sizes of bus terminals, and this formed theoretical landuse scale of bus terminals. Considering practical values in case cities, the theoretical land scale was modified. Results indicated that the macro-level layout of busterminals considering different landuse strengthened funcions of transferring passnegers, combined closely with residents' travel demand, and delivered practical meanings to layout planning of bus terminals.
