Recent years, segment wavemakers have become important laboratory equipment in the stimulation of real sea wave. Research on the properties of waves generated by segment wavemakers is essential to the study of physical model test, wave theory analysis and wave dynamics.In this paper, the theoretical properties of oblique wave generated by segment wavemakes are studied through numerical model, the influence of relative width and total width of wavemakers on wave generation is analyzed, the variation of effective test area of segment wavemakers is concluded, the method of dividing effective test area is obtained.And further, the time domain, frequency domain and directional distribution of multidirectional irregular waves generated by segment wavemakers is analyzed. The influence of the direction concentration and wave period on multidirectional irregular waves generated by segment wavemakers is discussed.At last, two-sided segment wavemakers which is more advanced in generating waves is studied by this paper. The wave formula of two-sided segment wavemakers is deduced based on the theory of one-sided segment wavemakers. The wave properties is studied at the case of removing wave making-board on the junction of two side. Also, this paper gives advice arrangement of two-side segment wavemakers. Moreover, through comparing the waves generated by one-sided or two-sided segment wavemakers respectively, the specific advantage of two-sided is analyzed. The results of this paper can be a reference for practical use.
