Chamfered caisson breakwater is developed on the basis of vertical breakwater, which is a new type of breakwater that is suitable for deepwater port. Its structural feature is that the upper breastwork near the sea side is an inclined plane, and it is an acute angle between it and the horizontal plane(such as 30 degrees or 40 degrees). This structure can reduce the horizontal wave force effectively, at the same time, the downward wave force produced by the inclined plane benefits overall stability of breakwater. Chamfered caisson breakwater has the characteristics of simple structure, good mechanical behavior, good stability and low cost. Chamfered caisson breakwater is viewed as a better new type of breakwater in the deep waters because of its wonderful appearance and superior mechanical properties. In this paper, we analyze the wave force distribution of chamfered caisson breakwater and the main influencing factors to discuss the dynamic properties of this new type of breakwater wave force according to experimentation of physical model. Firstly, based on the experiment in the wave tank of physical model, we analyze the test data of wave pressure on cross-sectional and get the instantaneous maximum horizontal wave force on breakwater, the vertical force of inclined plane and uplift pressure of base of levee and then we make time-history graphs with Origin. Secondly, aimed at every time-history curve, by comparing the peak values of impact wave force and the duration of the effect, we get the change rules of impact wave force and impact time as the main influencing factors including chamfer value, wave period, water depth in front of dam and height of foundation bed. Finally, we analyze the time-history curves of irregular waves and regular waves in the same conditions, by comparing the peak values, we get the mutual relations between irregular waves and regular waves.
