The Role Of Water In Creating The Atmosphere Of Memorial Exterior Space

Memorial building is one of the earliest public buildings in the human society.The first purpose of the memorial building is moral function,such as revering deities,advocating natural,and remembering those who have died.AS a memorial building with display function,memorial hall has a strong demand for moral function. The exterior space of memorial museum building is a transition space between indoor exhibition space and social environment,and it's space atmosphere plays an important role in the expression of the memorial theme. A good exterior space atmosphere of memorial building can let visitors visit the exhibits full of emotion and express and sublimate the emotion thoroughly,lastly visitor can resonate with the memorial subject.As one of the shiftiest natural element,water has been used widely in architecture design.In memorial building's exterior space,water is used more and more widely.Particularly in memorial building's exterior space atmosphere,water can play an incomparable role.First article does a deep research of the concept of water,memorial building and space atmosphere by reading a lot of literature.At the same time much relevant experience and theory both at home and abroad is been refered.Memorial building exterior space atmosphere is been classified into the emotion saving atmosphere,emotion expressing atmosphere and emotion subliming atmosphere by studying the theory of aesthetics.Then this paper summarizes five groups of specific space atmosphere with basis of five kinds of monument theme,and estimate the specimens' spiritual expression with SD method. Making water as the starting point of the research,this paper hopes to provide certain reference in design of memorial building's exterior space atmosphere for the future by summarizing the role of water in every specific atmosphere.
