Gear fault, bearing fault and rotor unbalance are the most common fault types in the mechanical driven systems. Major accidents are frequently occurred due to the mechanical equipment which fails to timely discover the three types of faults in the process of engineering practice. It has become the urgent demand of large enterprises to monitor and diagnose the three types of fault in equipment and it is necessary for the college teachers and students to contact and know the equipment and different situations during the engineering practice.However, due to the complicated environmental conditions on the scene,the principle that from simplicity to difficult, from less to more should be conformed during the study and research. In hence, it has important theoretical and practical significance to design an experiment platform which can simulate the common engineering faults of a mechanical transmission system.Simulation fault is the prerequisite requirement of the experimental platform,while the experimental platform is different from the engineering mechanical equipment.However,most of the existing mechanical fault simulation platform do not have comprehensive functions.usually, Some of them can only simulate one or two kinds of equipment faults, some are too close to the actual equipment, that is, as an experimental platform, its appearance is clumsy and complex to operate. The experimental platform are mainly used by the teachers and students in the laboratory of the school or research Institute, therefore,there is an urgent need for an experimental equipment that not only can simulate the mechanical transmission system, but also has smart appearance, convenient operation and neat environment. Thus, this paper aims to design a mechanical transmission system experimental platform which consists a set of gear,bearing and rotor imbalance fault simulation.it is mainly designed for the users who have teaching and research needs. The main research of the paper includes the structure optimization design, theoretical analysis, structural optimization and 3D modeling of the experimental platform and the ultimate goal of the research is to produce a complete product and apply it to the market.
