In the early stage of the railway construction work, the railway line selection is a comprehensive important work. One of the key word of railway is the route scheme comparison, the elected railway line solutions can affect directly whether the railway can meet the engineering investment province, the demand of the local economic development, the environmental protection requirements, a good social significance, etc. So that railway route scheme comparison to carry on the route reconnaissance and fully investigation and collect all information. In this way, railway route scheme comparison can be integrated and comprehensive.In this paper, the engineering example is wuhan to xiangyang railway section railroad of the han shi high-speed railway(xiaogan to shiyan of the new wuhan to shiyan railway section railroad). The author put forward the modified TOPSIS method and Grey Correlation in railway route scheme selection and comparison and set up a comprehensive evaluation index system of route scheme comparison.First of all, through the analysis of the situation of the research into the railway line selection at home and abroad and analysis the existing problems, the paper will find the research meaning and purpose. Secondly, after reading a lot of literature, the commonly used method of multi-objective evaluation system can be understandable. Third, the thesis introduces the basic theory of multi-objective decision and build up the railway comprehensive evaluation index. That the basic theory of multi-objective decision, development situation, the research contents, principles and methods will be explain in detail. The comprehensive evaluation system is, which is composed of the technical indexes, economic benefit, environmental impact, social significance of four criterion layer and nineteen detailed index layer, established in the thesis. The system of index methods has been studied, that it is entropy weight method and AHP method. At the same time, some detail social investigation of the rail line has been done in this thesis. Fourth, through the analyzing and studying the advantages and disadvantages of TOPSIS method and the Grey Correlation method, the thesis put forward the modified TOPSIS method and Grey Correlation which is used for the synthesis of the line. Assignment of qualitative indices, the theory of fuzzy membership is applied to the assignment of qualitative indices in the thesis. The thesis set up no quantitative matrix by combining quantitative index and qualitative index. After the relative closeness is calculated, it could get solution set weight vector in the comprehensive evaluation system. It can be draw a conclusion from this information, which larger scheme value is the best. Fifth, this thesis gives an example of line scheme comparison of Xiaogan to Xiangyang railway of Xiaogan to Shiyan railway of Wuhan to shiyan railway to conduct a case study. The modified TOPSIS method and Grey Correlation could be used to calculate every index value. It can be draw a conclusion that the result is same with the system by the design unit and construction unit adopted. It can be derived that the method could be applied to the line scheme selection.
