The Experimental Study On The Performance And Design Parameters Of TLA Modified Asphalt Mix

The modified asphalt in asphalt pavement can be divided into polymer modified asphalt and natural asphalt modification currently,the technology of polymer modification is relatively mature, and has been widely used in the asphalt pavement.Natural asphalt modification refers to primarily rock asphalt modification and Trinidad Lake Asphalt(TLA)modification.TLA has been used widely in the world compared to primarily rock asphalt modification.TLA modified asphalt has advantages in high temperature stability,durability,anti-aging properties, spolling resistance and the recycled use of asphalt pavement,which polymer modified bitumen unparalleled,so the study of the application of TLA modified asphalt technology has a very important significance in the construction of high-grade asphalt pavement.In this paper,the conventional technical indicators of matrix asphalt,TLA and SBS modified asphalt binders were studied to analyze the effects of different content of TLA asphalt on the performance of matrix asphalt upon a combination of theoretical and experimental method.On this basis,proposing the grade of asphalt and the blending scope of TLA to prepare TLA modified asphalt of various TMA, and providing some guidance for the rapid preparation of TLA modified asphalt which meets the technical specification.This paper selects 70 # asphalt blending with TLA to prepare TLA modified asphalt,and developing the SHRP PG graded evaluation of TLA modified asphalt blending with 25% TLA and 70 # asphalt,SBS modified asphalt to study the high and low temperature performance of TLA modified asphalt.And then selecting the determined grades of asphalt mixture to test the road performance of TLA modified asphalt mixture and compared with SBS modified asphalt mixture which is used widely.On the basis,developing asphalt mixture dynamic modulus tests with 70 #+25% TLA,70 # asphalt and SBS modified asphalt in two different grades of AC-13,AC-20.At the same time,conducting the fatigue life test of 70 # matrix asphalt,TLA and SBS modified asphalt.Finally,the technical performance,economic,environment and other aspects of the TLA and SBS modified asphalt mixture were analyzed and compared.The results show that TLA modified asphalt has excellent technical performances and economic comparability.TLAmodified asphalt mixture have good application prospects when applied to highway asphalt pavement.
