Design Of The Remote Water Meter Reading System Based On Internet And B/S Structure

Comparing to traditional way of manual reading water meter, Remote water meter reading system has solved the problem of low efficiency and security. Remote computer will monitor every water meter in real-time. When emergency occurs,Remote water meter reading system will automatically close the particular valve in time. According to the relevant address, the system will inform workers to diagnose and eventually solve the problem, in this way, the problem of wasting water due to the leak or the broken of pipes. Though there exists variable water meter reading system, they share the common difficulties of updating and maintenance. Based on the existing water meter reading system, a remote water meter reading system based on the internet is designed. This system includes Personal Digital Assistant(PDA)water meter reading part and General Packet Radio Service(GPRS) water meter reading part. This system combines these two parts in one water meter reading management platform. Users will both be able to login the platform from web to read real-time water meter or export history information of water meter, and be able to read water meter in the field from PDA.In this paper, remote meter reading system used common three layer structure.the system includes 3 parts, remote computer, communicating device and water meter reading device. Remote computer uses the technology of GPRS to communicate with communicating device, communicating device use the technology of Bluetooth to communicate with Water meter reading device.PC software using the browser / server structure, completed the meter reading and other features on the Web site. The main contents include:a. By comparing the various meter reading system of communication, and the company's existing products,author choosed the appropriate ways of communication and the upper layer of communication.b. The designed of collection and wireless communications terminal.According to the function, the collection and wireless communications are divided into functional modules,then author designed their hardware and software.c. According to user requirements, we design of the user's functional requirements.Combined with the specific requirements, author design of database E-R diagram.d. The designed of Web site. According to user requirements, author plan the function of each page. Because webs have different function,webs used different widget,Author writed foreground and background program, and completed page's function.e. At last, the author analyzes the innovations and shortcomings of this system, and raised the further and prospected for the remote meter reading system.
