With the arrival of peace and the development of social structure, each functional unit in the society becomes more connected to other units; the city operates as a whole.Since architecture in the city is closely tied with man's daily life, the social function of each construction is increasingly more salient.Hoverer, although the defensive function of architecture is gradually diminishing, the individuality of each construction remains.Architectures in each block or neighborhood are like stranded island. This fragmentation undermines the integrity of the city, hindering the development of diversity and the effective connection among different urban components. On the other hand, each architecture unit with the property of "mutual penetration" fits in the trend very well. The architecture that mutually penetrate each other stands from the perspective of the city, blurring boundaries between different urban areas, thus effectively sharing the space and functions from both sides."Mutually penetrable" architecture blurs the line between architecture and the city, uniting individual construction with the environment of the city, which is beneficial for urban planing from the perspective of the city as a whole.Using research form relevant areas both domestically and abroad, the first and the second chapter of this paper analyze the development process of the properties of individual architectural units and the the characteristic of architectures with the property of "mutual penetration". Chapter 3 and 4 use a number of cases in combination of visual illustrations, from both the horizontal and vertical level, to discuss strategies of designing blurred boundaries between mutually penetrable architectures, summarizing advanced techniques of urban architectural design.Chapter 5 uses the concept of grouping to look into the feasibility of multiple connected blurred boundaries in the city from the perspective of architectural groups. Chapter 6 summarizes the above-mentioned strategies and techniques and attempts to implement the design using visual illustrations. Finally, the effects of mutually-penetrable architectures on the city appearance are analyzed, and a method to design architectural units from the perspective of urban integrity is proposed.
