Construction industry in our country is in rapid development period and construction enterprises are paying more and more attention to the development and utilization of urban underground space, which leads to the deeper foundation pit and more complicated factors that influence foundation pits. How to improve the quality and guarantee the security of foundation pit engineering has been attached great importance. The emergence of Building Information Modeling(BIM) brings new changes for construction engineering. It can not only realize the information integration and sharing within the whole life cycle of buildings and quickly and accurately provide all project parties with the basic information of buildings but also improve engineers' ability to control the project. BIM visualization technology is employed in this thesis to improve the quality and security of foundation pit engineering. The thesis first introduces the concept, related software, researches at home and abroad of BIM technology, then summarizes, based on the features of China's existing foundation pit engineering, the improvements of foundation pit engineering in terms of the schedule, quality, cost, communication and coordination, and monitoring and management that are brought about by BIM visualization technology, and finally puts forward the application procedure of BIM visualization technology to foundation pit engineering. The values of visualization technology in the initial stage, design stage, and construction stage of foundation pit engineering are analyzed, at the background of the real foundation pit project, from such aspects as 3D information model establishment and information management, quality improvement of design drawing, complex node reinforcement and construction guidance, 4D dynamic preview of construction process, and communication and coordination. Based on Revit software secondary development platform, this thesis realizes the visual display of wall displacement and measured wall deformation that are based on the Midas GTS software calculation, which can greatly save data processing time and display the wall displacement and deformation to relevant parties in a more vivid way. It offers a new perspective for and contributes to the promotion of BIM technology application in foundation pit monitoring.
