With the advancement of the globalization of trade, maritime oil trade between countries all over the world also develops fast. As a serious threat to the sustainable development of the marine ecosystem, the accidental oil spill at sea appears constantly. To obtain timely and accurate marine oil spill information is the key to the marine oil spill warning. Real-time, on-line and continuous sea oil spill monitoring, is a technical problem for our country and even for the world.This paper proposes a water surface oil spill detection method based on the antenna impedance characteristics. Based on that water and oil has different effect on electromagnetic wave, this subject gets along with the relationship between the antenna impedance and oil film thickness by theoretical analysis. Preliminary experiments show this method can detect the thickness of the oil spill, and the resolution can reach 0.3 mm. The concrete research content is as follows:1. Introduced the main types of surface oil spill detection sensor and development status at home and abroad, and introduces the developing situation of the electromagnetic method and its application in oil spill, on the basis of this topic research significance and the content is presented.2. Analyzed the characteristic of electromagnetic wave propagation, antenna radiation and antenna impedance in medium with different electrical properties and in layered medium. Analyzed antenna impedance characteristics above the conductive space with the complex image method. Established water, oil, air three layer medium simplified model, and on the basis of this, the theory of sea oil spill detection based on antenna impedance change was analyzed.3. Oil spill detection sensor was designed, including the oil spill detection antenna selection and design, as well as the oil spill detection buoy structure design and material selection, and the stability of the buoy in the water, the rolling motion and dipping motion was analyzed.4. Antenna impedance measurement method was studied, and mainly analyzed the measuring principle of multi-point measurement of a transmission line method, and designed the antenna impedance detection circuit.5. Experiment platform was set up, oil film thickness measurement experiment was carried out and with a laser triangulation for calibration, and the experimental results and influence factors for experiment were analyzed.
