With the rapid development of civil aviation transportation industry and the accumulative effect of metropolitan air transportation need, a city or region in our country with more than one large airport will become a phenomenon in the future. Higher requirements are put forward about how to allocate and coordinate the airspace resources for arrival and departure operation. It cannot meet the new generation of ATC system’s operational requirements via researching airspace allocation and ATC operational optimization by ways of traditional technology and air traffic controllers’ experience. This paper puts forward the use of Trajectory Based Operation (TBO technology, and focuses on the ATC operation of two airports in Chengdu after construction of the second large airport in 2020.This paper begin with the summarization and analysis of the existing research achievements and experience on ATC operation of multi-airport system, and introduces the concepts about multi-airport system’s terminal area and Trajectory Based Operation technology. Next, the simulation study of ATC operation in Chengdu terminal area is based on the forecasted future aviation portfolio and detailed introduction of Chengdu terminal area. Then, the paper elaborate the algorithm of 4D trajectory prediction and the flight conflict detection and resolution, to design the simulation model combined with the two airports’ATC operation in Chengdu terminal area. Comparing with the simulation result of former model, this paper uses the assessment criteria of airspace capacity and delay, and proposes an optimization model including adjust of arrival and departure points and routes, airport operational mode and so on. The simulation demonstrates that TBO can be applied to the ATC operational research of terminal area, and there is an increase of terminal airspace capacity and decrease of delay after the optimization of two airports’ ATC operation. In the end, further research of ATC operation in Chengdu area is presented based on the simulation model. |
