With the number of motor vehicles increasing dramatically, the resulting traffic problems have became increasingly prominent. The city's main thoroughfares as an important part of urban roads, roads traffic is smooth or not depends on whether the urban traffic network can have a smooth and safe running. Intersection traffic conditions are complex and traffic accident-prone. It's a bottleneck to solve the problem of urban road traffic. Therefore, in order to reduce the vehicle delay time, make the traffic flow running smoothly and efficiently, the trunk road intersection should supply traffic signal coordination and control.Based on the above traffic conditions, this thesis, aims as easing the pressure on urban traffic, strength the actual capacity of urban road, researched the urban trunk road traffic coordination-control management. We can find the adjacent intersections on the road in the city as a unified linkage system to study the optimization method of the Transport Co-ordination control and its traffic flow simulation case.Firstly, the thesis reviewed the research status of the city signal control at home and abroad; Then, the trunk road traffic characteristics were analyzed from the people, vehicles, road traffic characteristics and traffic flow characteristics two aspects; Then instructed the basic contents, main algorithm and optimization of signal coordination and control status of the trunk system; Finally, analyze an example of the intersection among Xingfu Street with West Xingjiqiao Road and East Xingjiqiao Road, and Simulated with the data and results. Thus have a comprehensive understanding to the whole trunk road traffic signal coordinated control system.
