| Owning to the special natural environment and interlaced multiethnic culture,the small towns along the Yalu River basin of Jilin Province are endowed with unique architectural culture and forms through long-term historical precipitation and evolution.In recent years,the architectural culture of these towns is challenged unprecedentedly as the urbanization acceleration in Jilin Province.Thus,researchers have attached great importance on how to inherit and develop the architectural culture of the small towns under the background of ‘towns’ grand construction.In this study,the architectural culture and form of the small towns along the Yalu River basin in Jilin Province are discussed in four sections.Section one provides the basis of this study.The research object,purpose,and methods etc.of this research are firstly involved.In turn,related concepts and research level are defined.Finally,the current research situation is stated.Section two firstly introduces the natural environment and social cultural background of the small towns,including natural conditions,national history,economic conditions,customs and habits.The introduction is then expanded to the religious culture,geomantic conception,patriarchal-ritual system,and architectural concept of the towns.Finally,conclusion is given to the influences of various factors on the architectural culture of the towns.Section three analyzes and summarizes the architectural culture of the towns.In detail,the characteristics of the external space are investigated to discover the architectural form characteristics of the towns.Then the traditional residential buildings in the towns are analyzed to conclude the planar characteristics of the individual building and the composition form of courtyard among different ethnic groups.At last,the architectural and technical characteristics of different traditional ethnic buildings in this town are explored in terms of material characteristics,structural types,modeling and decoration.Section four raises the problems encountered in the development of small towns currently and makes suggestions for the heritance and development of the architectural culture.In addition,the development direction concerning the architectural culture of the small towns in the future is put forward. |
