As times advances and develops with the diversification of means of transportation, ground transportation is almost saturated with land resources dropping sharply as a consequence, leading to an increasingly greater contradiction between people and land. Hence, underground rail transits represented by metro become very important. Now, the underground is more than a transportation hub in nature, but more importantly it exists as a cultural station that can disseminate a multitude of information. It can display unique urban culture and educate the public aesthetically while waiting for metro. It has been over 150 years since the first metro was completed in London in 1863. What follows is that developed capitalist countries such as France, Germany, Japan, and Russia, all began to construct metros and they gradually developed and perfected them.Though our country is a late starter in metro construction, yet in recent years the construction of rail transit has entered a heated stage of development. Functional construction of metro has basically been completed and is able to provide people with convenient service. Hence, metro has become an indispensable part of life for urbanites.Although the function of metro in our country has basically been completed, there is no denying that our space environment design for metro is not perfect and not scientific enough compared with developed capitalist countries overseas. This paper plans to clarify status quo of metro at home and abroad with a comparative study of China and foreign countries, and uses this as context to collect pertinent literature and carry out a field research. Then it will compare China with foreign countries in terms of the status quo of metro through varied research techniques including literature analysis, subject synthesis, field research and induction and deduction, and analyze space environment design for metro and other aspects, thus pointing out deficiencies of space environment design for metro in our country, drawing related conclusions, and proposing an improvement strategy for our existing space environment design for metro and recommendations for development related to future design process to make a contribution to the metro construction in our country as much as possible.
