As the bottleneck of the city road system, the intersection directly determines the operation status of the whole system. The traditional intersection forms can work on a certain level of traffic flow, and can obtain good control effect. But with the growth of the flow, to deal with the traffic congestion, it is necessary optimize the operation of the intersection.Based on the “Design for plane T-intersection of lane change”, which is a patent of Wu Xiaoping, and also based on traditional management and control of intersection, this paper mainly studies on design method of plane translocating-intersection, including:(1) Study on the basic theory of the new-type 2-phrase signal control. This paper analyzed the essential difference between the traditional and new-type 2-phrase signal, and introduced its basic principle; analyzed the left-turning in the intersection. This paper studied capacity, queue length and LOS as a whole. Based on the index of queue length, this paper studied the capacity of the intersection. And also, this paper had a study on the match between number of approach lane and the traffic flow.(2) Study on translocating 2-phrase T-type plane intersection. This paper introduced the basic principle of the translocating method. And introduced the elemental forms of translocating 2-phrase T-type plane intersection, and its design method of signal control, and the organizing of pedestrian.(3) Case study. This paper studied on a T-type intersection in Wuhan city to verify the rationality of the method proposed in this paper. Base on the field survey, a simulation has been carried out on status quo and translocating 2-phrase design by vissim,...
