With the process of urbanization in China, the increasingly serious environmental problems, the waterfront area as an important area of human interaction with nature, its problem more prominent, with the speed of rapid urban development, design simple and crude in the waterfront environment so that not only the ecological destruction, but also no features to speak. In recent years, with the introduction of foreign theory and practice of greenway, our country set off a wave of greenway construction. This paper studies the characteristics of space to create a strategy of urban waterfront greenways, urban waterfront greenway refers to the ecological restoration, recreation, cultural heritage, aesthetic features such as multiple linear features targeted urban waterfront green open space, urban space and nature transition zone environment, but it is connected to the city each green patches, plays to promote sustainable urban development, improve the urban environment, to shape the city's image characteristics, such as the role of cultural heritage of the city.Today, the rapid development of Greenway Construction, most of the route selection is in these places where have better environment, such as the edge of mountain, the edge of river and so on, the waterfront greenway is particularly critical. Design seek ecological effects, meanwhile, we should pay attention to the characteristics of the construction. At present,Our study of city waterfront greenway is still in the primary stage, the design methods of space characteristics of the waterfront Greenway is in the vacant of the state, how to create a good ecological environment and the characteristics of space and waterfront greenway will be discussed in this article. Need to study from a new point of view, the influence factors and space features design elements, so as to further improve the greenway design technique.In this paper, with a number of basic theory, summarizes the domestic and foreign research review and case study, through the analysis of the urban waterfront greenway space characteristics of basic research, including the analysis of spatial elements; analysis of the factors affecting the characteristics of the elements of space; analysis of the factors expression the characteristics of the elements of space.To explore the objectives of the spatial features construction and design principles, development strategy of urban waterfront Greenway. Strategies are put forward from five aspects: constructing a theme of urban waterfront greenway features positioning; creating the experience of the city waterfront greenway layout features; portraying the diversity of urban waterfront greenway environment characteristics; modeling deeply stream of consciousness of the urban waterfront greenway sensory characteristics; prominent recognition of urban waterfront greenway node characteristics. The spatial characteristics to create policy into practice cases, two cases of different nature were selected to construct different scales waterfront greenways, urban water system network to the Indus Lake Ecological Urban waterfront greenways Wuhan City as the Case; Town repair within tributaries greenways, Zhengzhou City shall River ecological Corridor Case.
