In our country, intercity railway has advantages in shorting travelling time between cities and improving passenger's travelling quality. Thus, it is becoming an important aspect for railway development. When a constructed inter-city railway's design speed reach or exceed 200 km/h, then its operation safety is need to be considered. The core security component in train control system was the automatic train protection(ATP), which has a direct impact on operation safety and efficiency of the train. Therefore, a number of researches on software and hardware in ATP equipment and its impact on transport capacity was done by countries.However, researches on safety protection measures and impacts on transport capacity when a part of braking system was removed since its fault was little. At present, when part of emus' braking force was removed, protective measures which was applied in high-speed railway and inter-city railway ATP systems is to limit the emu's speed and a safety protection zone before the braking calculating target was set. The limit running speed was defined based on the proportion of emus with braking force removed. Further analysis on security of this measure should be done.In this thesis, CRH2A-200 electric multiple unit(EMU) was the main object of study. Methods on how to prevent occurrence of braking system fault in each subsystem of the EMU was analyzed. Based on this, the brake system faults were classified according to security influence on running trains. When faults in part of EMU vehicle's brake system occurred, in view of the processing method adopt for it was cut off vehicle's braking force, based on generation of security curve(ATP curve), the actual braking process point of view and the process of train protection algorithm and brake in the fully monitoring mode was simulated.In this thesis, train protection curve and the actual braking curve calculation model based on fixed step length method was conducted. Besides, the algorithm of the vehicle protection curve simulation implementation principle was given. As a result, it showed that parking with aggressive signals was likely in complete monitoring mode, even if the eight columns marshalling of emu had only 1 train braking fault,. And the distance of aggressive in train parking point is related to the braking original speed emu, removal of the proportion of braking force and line slope.Therefore, from the security perspective, reference to the ATP protection curve, braking failure of the emu ATP safety protection method was established. Sufficient conditions for the method to guarantee the safety of the train operation in case of braking cut off was analyzed, and from the angle of hardware and software it was implemented, and the security method was proposed the in Matlab simulation platform.Finally, the impact on the capacity of the protection method was studied. By comparing the current ATP curve and ATP protection curve considered braking force removed, attention to two or more things range tracking interval by interval and the station, station arrived in time interval was given to either of the curve. Then it was concluded that the protective curve effect on capacity. Tracking result showed that the method of interval time interval and the station arrived in time interval was slightly increased, but considering to the running track of time interval contained some buffer time, so the protective methods can be used in the existing train diagrams.
