The energy crisis, resource shortage, greenhouse effect and environmentalpollution problems within the world become increasingly serious. As a major partconsuming one third of the global energy, the low carbon research on thearchitecture has been the focus in the related industries. Due to the high energyconsumption and top discharge, the low carbon research on the gymnasium needs tobe further stressed. Along with the held of various world-class sporting events inour country, people sustain the enthusiasm on the physical exercises, and theconstruction of the gymnasium becomes hot. However, the design of the currentgymnasium in our country also exists the pure pursuit on the form and the blindworship of the high-tech, and it has great research value to achieve the low-carbonof the gymnasium from the theory and practice aspects.With the research subject of comprehensive gymnasium and the entry point oflow carbon design, this paper analyzes and does up the classic cases. Combinedwith the conclusion and refinery of the field investigation and actual projectcreation experience, it establishes the systematic framework of the research on thedesign of low-carbon gymnasium. Firstly, this paper analyses the low-carbon theory.Through the theoretical and research analysis, main influencing factors on thedesign of low-carbon gymnasium are regional climate, scale, material structure, andmanaging utilization, etc. These four factors are associated with each other, and it isa systematic process, therefore, the above factors are conducted the research on thedesign strategy from the two directors of overall low-carbon design on thegymnasium and the monomer low-carbon design; Secondly, the gymnasiumlow-carbon design direction is wholly grasped from three directions of earlydecision-making, planning strategy and operating strategy; Finally, the designmethod to reduce the carbon emission in the gymnasium is concluded at thedirection of monomer design from five aspects of climate utilization, function space,material structure, ecological interface and clean energy.Through the methods of field investigation, basic theory research and specificcase analysis, the research considers the gymnasium design from the low-carbontheory, comprehensively and completely discusses the overall and monomer designmethod of low-carbon gymnasium at the planning and designing stage. It is hopedto guide the future low-carbon design creation of the gymnasium to some extent.
