Since the wear resistance and heat resistance of Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE)can not meet the large scale application of the industrial field,The modification of UHMWPE has attracted people's attention all the time.In order to obtain the UHMWPE composites with excellent wear resistance and heat resistance,the hollow glass micro-spheres and PTFE were used as fillers to modify the physical properties of the composites.And to explore the mechanism of glass beads and PTFE.The key factors affecting the performance of UHMWPE composites were studied by orthogonal test and the results shows:When the glass micro-spheres was filled alone,The results shows that the influencing degree of these factors are The particle size of hollow glass micro-spheres>glass micro-sphere content>KH550 coupling agent content>powder mixing speed,the best combination is 3 wt% content of coupling agent,glass bead content of 5wt%,mixing speed of 350 r/min and glass beads diameter of 180?m in the experimental conditions;when PTFE was filled alone,The results shows that the influencing degree of these factors are PTFE content > coupling agent content >coupling agent type > powder mixing speed,the best combination is PTFE content of5wt%,coupling agent content of 1wt%,species of KH550,mixing speed of 250r/ min in the experimental conditions;While using glass beads with PTFE as a filler,the results shows that the influencing degree of these factors are glass bead content >PTFE content > powder mixing speed > coupling agent content,and the best combination is PTFE content of 6wt%,micro glass micro-sphere content of 6wt%,coupling agent content of 3wt%,powder mixing speed of 350 / min in theexperimental conditions.The larger particle size,the performance of composite get worse when the glass micro-spheres was filled alone,the dispersion degree of filler is the key to influencing wear resistance of materials when the size of hollow glass micro-spheres is suitable,the improvement of heat resistance of UHMWPE mainly related to the core-shell structure glass beads shaped.Alone with PTFE,a lubricating film PTFE formed can significantly improve the wear resistance of the matrix,but the composite creep phenomenon is serious when the content of PTFE is too high,following the wear rate increased,the improvement of heat resistance of UHMWPE depends on the strength of the inter-molecular force between PTFE and the matrix.The thermal deformation temperature of UHMWPE increased by nearly 30%and the wear rate decreased by nearly 35% when the particle size of glass beads filled is 180 ? m and content of5wt%.When PTFE content of 5wt% which the particle size is 80 ? m,the thermal deformation temperature of UHMWPE increased by 21%,and the wear rate decreased by 32%.When the hollow glass micro-spheres and PTFE are filled at the same time,The thermal deformation temperature of UHMWPE increased by 24%,and the wear rate decreased by 75%.The comparison of three kinds of composite materials draw the conclusion: to improve wear resistance mainly,the choice of glass beads and PTFE composite modified comes the best effect;to improve the heat resistance of the mainly,composites of glass beads filled alone get the best effect.
