The Research Of Feminine Common Crown In Northern Song Dynasty

Crown,as a part of costume,is a mirror of the times.By studying crowns of all ages,we can learn the social landscape and characteristics of the times in different periods of history.In ancient records,the recorded shapes of crown were more used in ceremonial occasions including sacrifice and coronation of kings and nobles,officials and titled madams.Nevertheless,the daily wear crowns for women from all walks of life were less introduced,and only a handful of them can be found in laws and bans.In fact,common crown in non-ceremonial occasions played an important role in the history of ancient Chinese Costume.Compared with the ceremonial crown,common crown,which closer to people's daily lives were wore longer and more often than ceremonial crown.With wider coverage of social class,common crown was much closer to the economic development changes at that time and it was a material carrier of the state of society.Many scholars have done researches on feminine crown in Song Dynasty,but most studies were about the general history with long time spans and did not specify the shapes of feminine common crown.Also,there was no timeline about the development and changes of crown at different times in Northern Song Dynasty.This thesis summarizes crowns from several aspects including its literature,images and physical materials,and divides feminine common crown in terms of materials and styles.Through case study of some typical crown,women's common crown in Northern Song Dynasty will be restored at the maximum level.Based on above case analysis,this thesis will link the individual crowns together and summarize the development of women's common crown in Northern Song Dynastyby putting them in the time-space dimensions of history,and examines the reasons behind the changes and adjustments of crowns.In addition,this thesis discusses and analyzes the correlation between common crown and Taoism crown,their internal logic and motivation,and the secular transformation of Taoism crown.
