Located in East Zhao Township of Yuci District,Jinzhong City,Shanxi Province,Hougou ancient village is an ancient village of long history,whose history can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty.Constructed along the river by the mountain,retaining the brick kiln courtyard,courtyard,independent kiln and other large number of Ming and Qing Dynasties ancient buildings and a large number of brick,wood carvings,stone art boutique.Thevillage retains the brick three-section compound,quadrangle,independent kiln and other ancient buildingsof Ming and Qing Dynasties,as well as a large number of carved artworks made by brick,wood orstone.As one of the outstanding representatives of ancient Chinese farming culture,in addition to the unique architectural style and space layout,the interior furniture and furnishings of Hougou ancient villagearealso of great research value,which reflect the characteristics of traditional domestic architecture in Jinzhong and show the historical and cultural state that people design spontaneously and consciously for existences,lives and enviroments in the northern rural traditional way of life.In this paper,the interior furniture and furnishings of Hougou ancient village are taken as the research object,the systematic research is carried out on the basis of the particular cases.This paper mainly includes the following contents.1.The study of the geographical and cultural environment of the Hougou ancient village,which is the basis of the study of traditional domestic architecture and furniture and furnishings.It mainly analyzes the history and environment of the Hougou ancient villages,and deeply analyzes and expounds its geographical and cultural environment and the geomantic culture.2.The study of residential spatial form of the Hougou ancient village.As furniture and furnishings cannot be designed without a specific building and interior space,residential space layout and space levation form directly determine and influence the state of furniture and furnishings design.In this part,the residential appearance will be described with the aid of the residential floor plan and elevation that the author mapped out.3.The influence of the lifestyle changes on the furniture and furnishings of the Hougou village’s buildings.This part ofresearchis based on the investigation by interviewing residents in the Hougou village,tracking andrecording their life day and night,in order to explore the influence of modern lifestyle changes on the furniture and furnishings.4.The research into the protection,inheritance and the developmental patternof the traditional domestic architectures’ furniture and furnishings of Hougouvillage.There are no fixed patterns and style in the interior spatial processing and decoration seen in the residential houses,which present the living stats of the mixed times.As a typical case of Jinzhong traditional domestic architecture,the research on the types,materials,patterns as well as the furnishings and interior space of Hougou Village can provide to a great extent a reference for the scholars.It not only provides the original information for the protection to the furniture furnishings of Hougou Village,but also can provide reference for the design of modern furniture and environment.
