The monitoring of pumping units plays a very important role in the oil and gas production process.The normal operation of pumping units is one of the prerequisites to guarantee a satisfied oil and gas recovery rate.C urrently,most of the oil fields adopt RS485 cable based monitoring system to monitor the operational statuses of the pumping units.However,such a system suffers from many disadvantages,including the wiring problems,complicated and costly installation,inconvenient maintenance,difficult construction,etc.In this thesis,we propose to adopt Internet of Things(IoT)in the real-time monitoring of the working statuses of the pumping units.The advantages of the IoT based monitoring system include high accessibility,long communication range,low cost,etc,which makes it suitable for the monitoring of oilfield pumping equipment.In this thesis,we design the Io T based monitoring system of the pumping units after carefully considering both the working environmental conditons of the pumping units and the requirements for the low-cost sampling and transmission of the working parameters.There are three modules in our project: a Schneider PLC-M340 based local monitoring system,a zigbee network for the parameter transmission and a Labview based monitoring system running on a upper computer.The local monitoring system manages the sampling and local control of the working parameters of pumping units.After that,the sampled parameters are delivered from the PLC to the upper computer via the zigbee network.The upper computer achieves the real-time display and storage of the parameters.After building both the hardware platform software system,we conduct the experimental test on the system to validate the feasibility of the monitoring system.The designed system can achieve our desired design objective,i.e.,realizing the remote monitoring of pumping units.
