Chinese Painting Elements In The Application Of The Modern Garment

Chinese paintings,with a long history,are treasures of China after thousands of years of enrichment,development and revolution,and hold an incomparable position in world art.By adopting theories of aesthetics,tradition al Chinese painters involv e their tastes and their understanding of traditional philo sophy into the creation of paintings,which form a special artistic style and charm.Since Chinese paintings cover wide areas and rich varieties,this paper takes Mr.Wen Lisheng's traditional paintings of flowers as examples to d iscuss their features in colors,composition,use of ink,artistic conception and other aspects.Emphasis is put on the use of these paintings in m odern garments,and disc ussions are m ade from their partial use in garments,their overall use in garments and the combination of these paintings with garments.From these discussions,skills and methods of applying these paintings in women's dress are summarized.In the end,dem onstration of the fi nal effect is made by combining theory and practice.Nowadays,though western culture-dominated internationalization still plays a vital role in Chinese people's life,a new wave of valu ing and analyzing Chinese culture has em erged among the Chinese with the rise of Chines e economy,the strengthening of China's comprehensive national power and the increasing of China's position in the intern ational world.On the other hand,western people are pa ying increasingly more attention to Chinese culture because of Chin a's rise,and western costume designers constantly put elements of Chinese culture in their works.C hina's garment industry is in the process of rapid development,which brings new opportunitie s and challenges to designers.Meanwhile,“original culture” in costum e design has becom e a group consciousness in China.It has become a key in research of how to combine traditional Chinese paintings' artistic charm and the trend of m odern garment and how to use internationally popular words to express and show our unique aesthetic feelings.In the pape r,a great num ber of original designs are analyzed comparatively to sum up the skills and m ethods used in the hope of providing theoretical basis for costume designers of this type in practice.
