In this paper, to get the harmony among art design and human, the author discusses howto use the characteristics of traditional Chinese painting to design garment in the respect ofmodern art and traditional culture. Also, the author gives her own point of view which couldpoint out a new direction that benefit the development of national garment industry bylearning the skill of traditional Chinese painting, concepts of fashion design, artistic culture,and researching the theories on garment design, costume design psychology, clothing history,color psychology and marketing.The rapid development of Chinese garment industry demands to strong Sino-brandsimage in the international clothing market. Innovating, enhancing brand image and breakingthrough the traditional design concept are the ways to establish garment brands with Chinesecharacteristics.The paper discusses the importance about linking fashion design with painting on therespect of cultural heritage and modern art expression, and puts forward a new point of viewon Chinese fashion design, which could help Chinese garment brand value deepenedcontinuously. As a result, Chinese culture art and garment design could be understood andaccepted in the fierce international competition.This paper mainly includes: the status of contemporary fashion design, the classes oftraditional Chinese painting, time value of traditional Chinese painting element used infashion design and Chinese traditional painting element in applications of fashion design.
