At present, the main industrial technologies for producing isopropanol(IPA)were the process of Hydration of Propylene and Acetone hydrogenation. The main byproduct was diisopropyl ether(DIPE)of Hydration of Propylene. At present the domestic manufacturers have not found the suitable method to refine raw DIPE.In order to improve the economic benefit of the IPA instrument,Refining and purifying byproduct of DIPE was an urgent need to develop the technology.Aiming at the poor quality and low purity of DIPE of the byproduct of IPA device of Hi-tech Spring Chemical Industry Co.,Ltd,In this paper,a detailed analysis of the production status, composition of raw materials and the existing problems of exsiting DIPE instrument in order to improve the purity of DIPE.Throught a lot of experiment,an optimum processing route for refining DIPE was set up.This paper studies the effect of the quantily of extractant and entrainer, the reflux ratio of the azeotropic distillation column on the purification of DIPE.The optimal conditions were determined: the adding amount of extractant was as raw material weight 2~3 times, adding amount of methanol azeotropic agent for 1.5 times of the theoretical amount, the reflux ratio of azeotropic distillation column was 20,The product purity was more than 99%,the yield was more than 93%.This processing equipment has advantages of simplicity and easy operation etc.The purity of diisopropyl Ether was able to achieve More than 99% after purifing, and can be widely used in the coal solvent, medicine intermediate, and other industries. The process design and operation was not only beneficial to the improvement of the diisopropyl ether quality, and also provides a useful technology to isopropyl alcohol industry to reduce raw material cost and increase economic efficiency.
