Isopropyl ether(IPE), or diisopropyl ether(DIPE), is a pretty critical organic chemicalfeedstock and solvent in many manufacturers.DIPE is a kind of flammable and colorless liquid which has certain mobility and mediumvolatility. And it has a special odour as common ether. Water、isopropanol、acetone、acetonitrile and ethanol can mix with it to yield so-called azeotropic mixture. DIPE has beenwidely applied in so many areas such as fossil oil、tobacco、synthetic chemistry in the world.In terms of environmental protection,the application of DIPE is more and more got theattention of people.For example, animal fats、mineral oil、wax and peucine and so on can bewell dissolved in DIPE. Simultaneously DIPE is an efficient extractant for coal tar andnicotine from tobacco, vitamin A from cod-liver oil and purification of some valuable drugs.In addition, DIPE has respectively high octane value(about98)and anti-freezed propertywhich is a perfect candidate for gasoline admixture.Because of its superiority of property anduniversity of application, its preparation method and application are researched all over theworld.The whole process of this topic is completed under the condition of the laboratory,experiment contents are divided into two large pieces of:1) using NR50/SiO2complexes ascatalyst to get the suitable reaction condition of synthesis of DIPE by alfin method;2) usingsulfuric acid as catalyst to get the suitable reaction condition of synthesis of DIPE byisopropanol dehydration, based on the isopropanol dehydration and previous research tocomplete the engineering design of3000t/a isopropyl ether production equipment.Advanced process simulation software is used in the process of separation andpurification to determine the appropriate operating parameters in order to choose the rightequipment. In addition, the automatic control level of engineering design, environmentalprotection and safety were evaluated and analyzed.
