Research Of Application Of Direct Laser Engraving In The Cigarette Case's Printing Industry

Since the 1990's,the increasing demand of cigarette case production caused high-speed printing,More and more stringent quality requirements to the print quality of cigarette case from the tobacco companies lead to a wide application of high speed web fed gravure printing machine At present,electronic engraving was the most widely in traditional gravure industry application of cigarette case.However,after many years of application,some problems which came from the inherent defects of the electronic engravure can not be solved,such as: the resolution of plate graved by mechanical contact is far less than the PS or CTP plate;the obvious serrated edge cause the security line cannot be a replicated by using gravure printing etc..began to rise in gravure plate making field for its high resolution compared to traditional electronic engravure.Because the corrosion process which belongs to a backward technology and increases the risk of environmental pollution was necessary to laser etching technology,and,it can only be classified as a transitional technology.With the development of laser technology,laser energy beam strengthening made the direct laser engraving gravure become reality.In this research,some problems in gravure printing process was investigated to find out the root of it though the practical problems and some specific phenomena encountering in manufacturing and printing process.The performance of the electronic engraving and direct laser engraving was studied comparatively and the advantages of the direct laser engraving were confirmed by solving some practical problems which cannot be solved in other printing processes.Direct laser engraving is an important and necessary technology to the development of the cigarette case printing industry.
