Research On Fancy Glaze Firing Technique Of Cizhou Kiln

The literature review method,field investigation method,case analysis method and theoretical approach under multidisciplinary perspective are employed and the advanced technologies,including photographing,video recording and taping etc,are adopted in this thesis to conduct field investigation,to interview fancy glaze artist,to participate the pottery firing,to investigate the sales conditions of local pottery,and to collect first hand information.Then,through referring to the relative literature about mineralogy,crystallography and physical chemistry,and the research achievement of former researches,the objective acknowledge to the fancy glaze of Cizhou kiln is formed to guarantee the dept and breadth of the research.This thesis initially explores a way for the innovative application and the cultural creative industry development of fancy glaze pottery product,and the modern design of fancy glaze.The fancy glaze of Cizhou kiln,a new type decorative and artistic glaze researched and manufactured under strongly national support,is an outstanding representative of Chinese pottery products of 1960th and 1970th.However,the changes of time and environment fades away the former glory of fancy glaze of Cizhou kiln--lesser and lesser artists and rapid disappearing firing technique.It is in need of immediate heritage and innovation.Based on the analysis to filed investigation and the author's experience,the thesis conducts rescuing exploration toward the exploitation method of the raw material--Daqing clay,and records the formula and preparation of glaze material,the formula and preparation of preform body,the molding and glazing of preform body,and the whole firing process both in words and figures.Meanwhile,the thesis also pays attention to the application of the traditional Cizhou kiln firing technique in today's firing process.In addition,the required tools and equipment are introduced in detailed by the author.And the narrative recordings of pottery artist,pottery object,tools and equipment are compared with the literature,so as to further learn the key and difficulty point of the technique and to establish the general rule and method of firing technique.The case analysis method is employed to illustrate the color pattern and modeling features of fancy glaze of Cizhou kiln and the qualities of fancy glaze of Cizhou kiln,namely abundant colors,delicate pattern,simple and dignified modeling and cultural connotation,are found.With the development of time,the traditional technique is being in difficult position.Only by retaining the superior qualities of fancy glaze of Cizhou kiln and filling it with modern features and modern customers requirements can the fancy glaze of Cizhou kiln be better inherited and developed.
