Poly alpha olefin(PAO)and alkyl benzenes are two promising varieties in synthetic lubricating oil.The prominent advantages of PAO base oil which prepared from high carbon number olefin are high viscosity index and low volatility and the disadvantage is higher solidification temperatures.On the contrary,alkyl benzene base oil has good low temperature performance.In this paper,with the intention of synthesizing base oil of lubricant composed of PAO and alkyl benzene,we using the in situ synthesis method and systematically studied the alkylation reaction of benzene and 1-dodecene by different feed ratio,with anhydrous AICl3 catalyst.Alkylation reaction of benzene and 1-dodecene catalysied by AICl3 was studied systematically.The effects of benzene/1-dodecene mole ratio、reaction temperature and reaction time on the alkylation reaction and product properties were investigated detailedly.The composition and structure of the product was characterized by IR、GC-MS and 1H NMR instruments.Viscosity、pour point and average molecular weight of product were determined according to National standard of test methods to petroleum and petroleum products.The results show that under the conditions of benzene/1-dodecene mole ratio of 1:3、reaction temperature is 50℃、reaction time is 6 h,the product possessed a high viscosity index of 168、a low pour point of-48℃、a medium 100℃ kinematic viscosity of 11.15 mm2/s and a moderate molecular weight of 540;The products are 1ixtrued of PAO and alkyl benzene,of which the mass fraction of pentamer and hexamer of 1-dodecene and di-alkylbenzene isomers are 24.65%、5.48%and 69.87%,respectively.Under the condition of benzene/1-dodecene molar ratio of 1:3,the influence of reaction time and reaction temperature on reaction by Et3NHCl-AlCl3 ionic liquid catalyst were investigated.The results indicated that in this catalytic system,reaction can be done in a short time(1~4h),reaction temperature have not much effects on the property and yield of the product.
