Research On A Master's Thesis In Baosteel Natural Gas Systematic Process Analysis And Improvement

With the increasing energy need,Baosteel has successively introduced natural gas from Shanghai Gas and PetroChina Company Limited.Due to the different process equipment configuration of the two natural gas companies and special international practice of "Take-or-Pay" contract in the gas industry,a complicated natural gas usage pattern has been formed with two natural gas pipe systems working simultaneously.On top of that,two natural gas suppliers offer different price.PetroChina has more competitive price than Shanghai Gas,which creates the conditions to reduce natural gas purchasing cost.Therefore,it is greatly necessary to analyze Baosteel natural gas systematic process and do research in the process reengineering,with an aim to enhance the natural gas management and reduce the natural gas purchasing cost.The thesis points out the problems to be tackled after analizing Baosteel natural gas process,its usage and management situation.The reengineered natural gas operation and management process has been figured out by referring to related documents,field research and applying related theory and measure of BPR(business process reengineering).It can yield important results like controlling two simultaneously working natural gas pipelines of PetroChina and Shanghai Gas,developing natural gas usage strategy and management mechanism,improving natural gas management process and policies,increasing the natural gas usage ratio of PetroChina by developing a natural gas load forcasting way suitable for Baosteel,and enhancing the accuracy in natural gas plan and usage.Furthermore,a scheduling management module has been developed by relying on the information platforms like EMS(Energy Management System),SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition),IH(IH Real-time database)and ERP(Enterprise Resource Plan),further making a solid foundation for the online natural gas report,statistics counting and optimal scheduling.The thesis has achieved the research objective and got very important results:avoiding the negative terms of;"Take-or-Pay" contract by controlling two simultaneously working natural gas pipeline;improving natural gas management process and policies;increasing the usage ratio of PetroChina natural gas,making fuller use of PetroChina natural gas by more accurate natural gas planning and usage,which can be proven by the following data.From the second quarter of 2012 to the first quarter of 2013,the purchasing unit price of natural gas of Baosteel production plants in Shanghai dropped to 2.24 yuan/Nm~3(while the average purchasing unit price was 2.76 yuan/Nm~3),saving 2.603 million yuan annually.
