With the rapid development of urbanization, the production of municipal solid waste continues to increase. In some regions, the disposal ability of MSW has been insufficient, facing the dilemma of being surrounded by waste. How to choose a suitable processing technology to deal with the increasing of MSW properly has become the current focus and hot issues of sanitation work managers. The work of this paper is a part of the ‘Special planning of urban living garbage disposal facilities construction of Chongqing city between 2016 and 2020', which is commissioned by the Chongqing Municipal Administration Commission. The finish of this paper could provide some advice for the ‘13th Five-Year' living garbage management plan Chongqing city.This paper firstly thorough investigated the basic data about Chongqing city's municipal solid waste generation and composition, waste collection and processing system to reveal the problems existing in Chongqing municipal solid waste disposal. Then, forecasting the production, composition and Calorific value of Chongqing city's MSW in next five years to provide the reference for the optimization of Chongqing city's MSW disposal technology solutions.Secondly, the Chongqing municipal solid waste disposal technology program is selected as the research object in this paper. In view of 4 kinds of MSW treatment technology, which includes sanitary landfill, incineration, cement kiln co processing and compost, 20 indexes were selected to establish the hierarchical structure model from 5 aspects of economy, technology, environment, society and management. Then, using the analytic hierarchy process in group decision to making comprehensive comparison about these four kinds of processing technology, the results showed that the best choice of Chongqing city's MSW disposal is incineration, followed by cement kilns and sanitary landfill disposal. However, compost technology is not suitable unless the effect garbage classification is effective.Finally, According to the current distribution of Chongqing city's MSW treatment facilities and MSW disposal technology's optimization and sequencing results, it's determined that in Chongqing during the ‘13th Five-Year' the MSW treatment technology route will change from ‘landfill and incineration supplement, cement kiln supporting collaborative disposal' to ‘incineration, supplemented by landfill and comprehensive development of the cement kiln collaborative technology'.It is expected that this paper could be helpful in theory to treat MSW in Chongqing in future.
