In recent years, environmental protection and green safety has more and more attention of people all over the world, packaging and printing industry may be adversely affected because of its high VOCs. Flexography has environment friendly and excellent printing effect, it uses ink is water-based inks. But in the domestic market, the quality of its ink is poor and the variety is less, and study about special-purpose binder of flexographic printing ink is few. In this contribution, the aim is to develop a high quality flexographic ink, according to the characteristics of flexo-printing process, study the effect of acrylic emulsion with different structure on the basic properties and rheological properties, and mainly study the influence factors of the printing effect to solve roll marks phenomenon in the printing process. The main contents are as follows:1. Core-shell acrylic emulsion, simple structure acrylic emulsion, and one component acrylic emulsion, and functional resin composite acrylic emulsion, were prepared. The influence of an optimized emulsify system, the molecular weight agent and the hydrophilic functional monomers on acrylic emulsion, has been systematically studied, the performance of acrylic emulsion were studied by using rheometer, laser particle instrument, automatic surface tensiometer and other instruments. Synthesis of acrylic emulsion with different structure were used for preparation of water-based ink, and then, flexographic printing simulator (IGT F1) simulated printing process, using microscope to observe microstructure of roll marks phenomenon. In the end,35% of the functional resin with the neutralization degree of 80% composite acrylic emulsion was selected as the binder of the flexographic printing water-based ink.2. Three available flexographic printing inks on the market are research, two of which are from foreign markets and the other from the domestic market, and their basic performance and printing results were available. The market research provided technical help for homemade flexo printing water-based ink, series of performance indicators of which were got.3. The flexographic printing water-based ink was using the acrylic emulsion with the functional resin above. We also choose the right kind of paste, and discuss the use of additives, e. g, defoamer agents, leveling agents and thickening agents. And the comprehensively properties of the water-based ink were evaluated. Eventually, the formula of flexographic printing water-based ink was determined, and excellent rheological properties were achieved.
