Studying Onthe Transition Of Roman Food Culture And Social Situation In Late Republic

Rome became the ruler of the Mediterranean district from a small country besides the Tiber River,empire was established with a series of foreign wars.The victory of these wars not only made Rome territory expansion and sharply increased in wealth,but also frequently communicated with the conquested regions,espically the eastern culture.With the introduction of oriental culture,the traditional life of Roman had changed in every aspect.The Roman diet changed obviously.This paper is trying to introduce the changes of Roman diet in late Republic,to analyze a series of wars in Rome played what role in the changes of diet culture in the process of the Rome development and in the late Republic Rome society what has changed.The paper is divided into three chapters: the first chapter mainly introduces the traditional Roman food culture,mainly from the dishes,kitchen utensils,dining location,dining ceremony these aspects;the second chapter is mainly analysis of the Roman external wars how to affect the Roman diet changes,it includes three aspects,the wealth plundered in the war,the promotion of the trade between East and West,the development of cultural exchanges between the East and West;the third chapter is mainly analyzing changes in the late Republic of Roman diet and society status.There is a close relationship between the transition of Roman food culture and the changes of social situation in late Republic,the changes of social atmosphere promote Romans to pursue luxury in diet,and the excessive pursuit in diet also speed up the degeneracy of the social atmosphere.
